Repla

Low-cost, low-carbon
recycled resin raw material

Repla is a trademark for plastic resins pelletized from hard-to-recycle, multi-layered composite plastic through esa’s verified Repla Process. The design was recognized with the 2023 Good Design Award (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion).

As global regulations are moving towards governing % of recycle plastic content added into finished products, simple single recycled plastic will not only be hard to acquire, but also costly. Repla can be the solution to that issue. Early engagement and testing of Repla solutions can allow organizations to minimize disruption as demand for single recycled plastic increases.

Repla Application Examples

  • Shopping bags and garbage bags

In collaboration with partners, we developed packaging materials containing 60% Repla as an alternative to petroleum-based or biomass-based materials. The materials met the required physical properties and strength standards and were successfully commercialized.

  • Wheelchair components

Repla, which contains approximately 30% PET, is blended with virgin resin to enable productization through injection molding.

  • Repla Bottle Series (Prototype)

Used fishing nets and PE-based composite plastics are recycled into Repla, and successful bottle molding was achieved using a multi-layer direct blow molding process. Repla is blended into the intermediate layer.

You can purchase Repla samples.

The 100% sustainable recycled plastic pellet “Repla” is available in a wide range of quantities, from 3 kg to 500 kg. Use it for everything from prototyping to product development, according to your needs.

Repla Process Licensing

Partner Companies Sought

Waste management is increasingly a focus of attention: local waste management companies are encouraged to recycle plastic collected by the government; manufacturers are increasingly under pressure from customers to reduce waste and emissions; extended producer responsibility reporting is increasingly robust.

Repla Process Licensing aims to provide the solutions to tackle hard to recycle composite post-industrial waste plastic on a national level.

  • 1.
